VANGUARD Pro Fight Night, also known as simply Fight Night, is a professional wrestling streaming television program produced by the VANGUARD Pro wrestling promotion. It airs on the Battleground Network streaming platform.
Plot Overview:[]
Set in the heart of New York City, urban legend has been brewing through the subways of the city to the highest offices of a new wrestling promotion that looks to change the game. Rumors have been circulating since the Hammerstein Ballroom had been purchased and renovated into what some have called a theater of violence -- The Epicenter stands where the changing of the world begins. It wouldn’t take long for the news to reach all corners of the internet. Vernon Tressler, a long-since retired wrestler and patriarch for the leading insurance agency of pro athletes Tressler Insurance LLC, released a declaration to the world of a new beginning — a new VANGUARD of Professional Wrestling. He invites everyone, those who consider themselves the best in the world worth their salt, every rookie looking to make a name for themselves, and anyone with something to prove to the platform of VANGUARD Pro.
The Overseers are a collective of individuals who have taken a personal or professional interest in the prospects of VANGUARD Pro. This shadow governing body is composed of high-rollers, crime bosses, social elite, and business tycoons who see the promotion not only as a golden goose of potential but also a means to their own ends. They invest money into the promotion, gamble on matches, and politic in a personal bid for wealth, territory, and power. The identity of members within The Overseers are not currently public. The only members currently known are Vernon Tressler as the promotions frontman and matchmaker, and Cyrus J Armand III moonlighting as a spokesperson. Money flows in VANGUARD by the influence of The Overseers but the most prominent method has been with Bounties. Bounties, for the most part, are put on the heads of talent who run afoul of The Overseers (or an individual member) to some capacity. Be it some personally-charged motivation, or something as petty as the result of a match that lost them money. Bounties are personally inquired and can range from simply beating them in a match, injuring them, or — as per the inspiration for the fed — to the extreme of termination.
History:[]
Fight Night premiered on Battleground Network with a trailer for the inaugural episode on January 13th, 2024. The pilot and second episode were pulled from the network in September following the firing of a controversial performer, leading to remastered episodes releasing in October. It focuses on professional wrestling matches, with commentary from play-by-play Guy Incognito and podcast host and former boxer Concrete Jackson. Video packages highlighting wrestlers or storylines, air throughout each broadcast as well as several interactions between either the wrestlers themselves or with storyline promoter Vernon Tressler, who is portrayed as a babyface and Board of Directors representative Cyrus J Armand III, who is portrayed as a heel.
The [REMASTERED] episode of Fight Night #001 aired on October 25th, 2024 and saw the crowning of the inaugural VANGUARD Progression Champion as Cloudy defeated Archie Adams, CHET, Jules King, Silas Romero, and Treyvon Cole for the vacant title.
Production:[]
Fight Night events are filmed from the fictional Epicenter (Hammerstein Ballroom) in Manhattan, New York in front of a live studio audience. These events usually have extra matches that are later distributed as episodes of Fight Night's sister show Proving Grounds. Occasionally, segments take place in real or fictional venues as a means of worldbuilding.
Upon the remastering of the pilot, the official theme song was "Heavy is the Crown" by Linkin Park, with "Trouble Coming" by Royal Blood serving as a secondary theme.
