Ryo Sakazaki (リョウ・サカザキ Ryō Sakazaki) is an American citizen of Japanese birth pro wrestler (born on December the 12th, 1998) currently signed to the Omega Wrestling Alliance and its Olympus brand as well as Pro Wrestling Nova.
Early Life:[]
Ryo was born and raised in the Peach Creek neighborhood of Sleepy Hollow to Masaharu and Harumi Sakazaki, two chefs who own the "Bistro La Salle" in near-by Tarrytown New York. Initially a rather shy kid, this shell was soon broken due to mostly in thanks of the three kids in his neighborhood who he would go onto become lifelong best friends with in Robert Garcia, Uiriamu Minami, and Jacob Striker.
It is partially in thanks to Jacob that Ryo was introduced to professional wrestling as Ryo found himself enthralled with how varied everything was and came up with what would become his gimmick when he was ten years old-partially in thanks due to his father and his love of classic rock music by bands like Queen, WASP, and the like that helped to influence his young son's aspirations.
Training:[]
After completing chef's school (as part of an agreement with his father so that Ryo would have something to fall back upon if wrestling didn't pan out for him), Ryo along with his two best friends Robert and Jacob joined the War Room Dojo and trained in Lucharesu under Stephanie Matsuda and was one of her second generation of students (The Wild Boys, Jocelyn Sky, and Serenity Scorpio are viewed as the first generation students) with Ryo really taking to the style despite his size and weight difference from practically all of Matsuda's other students in the class.
Later on Ryo in his career, Ryo would gain further wrestling training in not only the Phoenix Arts style of professional wrestling (the Japanese wrestling style connected to the now defunct Super Japan Pro Wrestling), but also the infamous Jade Court Puroeseu style as taught by the Reaver's Dojo as well-allowing Ryo to incorporate his MMA skills into his matches and thus becoming a much more effective wrestler in the ring.
Introducing to the "World":[]
Ryo originally debuted on the last joint Super Japan Pro Wrestling/R*Y*U "Daigoro Kumano Memorial Show" from the Fukuoka Kukusai Center in Fukuoka, Japan on November the 6th, 2019 in an six man tag team match that put Ryo alongside both Jacob and Robert (as the "Extreme Freebirds" for the night) as they represented the Rogue Horsemen stable on the SJPW side of things against Kevin Mask, Hitch Sheffield, and Maverick Feral of R*Y*U's Vulture Squad faction with Ryo getting the pinfall victory following him hitting the "Ode to the Black Sun" on Sheffield.
Ryo would then take some time off before making his American debut for Pro Wrestling Nova on April the 8th, 2020, during which time he would spend most of his time in Pro Wrestling Nova as one half of the "Super Friends" tag team alongside Robert, usually working in the undercard.
It was during this time that Ryo, wanting to do more with his career, signed with both Gamma Pro Wrestling and the Omega Wrestling Alliance, being unable to debut for GPW before they were forced to shut down and Ryo's entry into the OWA was met with some fanfair...at first.
Personal Life:[]
As previously stated, Ryo is life long best friends with Robert Garcia, Alex Westwood, David Bennet, Garo Saejima, and Jacob Striker. He is also close with Jacob's sister Jessica.
Ryo is an avid video game player (not as much as say Jacob) as he prefers the Saint's Row, Red Dead Redemption, and Grand Theft Auto video game series as well as League of Legends and Tekken. He is also a fan of classic rock and roll, partially due to his father's influence. He also enjoys fishing and cooking, but he freely admits that his cooking is nowhere near the level of his parents.
